CAMBRIDGE – The four year old class from Sunshine Nursery School held its 28th annual
graduation program on June 18 at the First Baptist Church in Cambridge. The graduates all
wore handmade mortarboards and proudly marched in to the traditional “Pomp and
Circumstance.” The graduates introduced themselves and then presented a program of songs
and finger plays they had learned throughout the year to a large and appreciative crowd.
Each graduate received a diploma from their teacher, Jane Lang, and finished the program by
marching out to the “ABC” song.
The class had several special events during the spring. In late March they went to Dry Brook
Sugar Farm in Salem to learn how maple syrup is made. At the end of May, they went to
Cambridge Central School to have lunch and playground time with the kindergarten classes.
Special visitors included Howard Romack who presented a program on reptiles and amphibians
that are common in our area and also Dottie Cross who brought three week old triplet goats for
the class to play with and feed. The class enjoyed a picnic at Audrey Danielsen's house, a
member of the class, the morning of graduation.
All of the students worked very hard all year preparing for kindergarten. They are all excited
about their important step into the “Big School” in September.
